Since the turn of the year here at Charlie Austin Football School we have tried to do something revolutionary within the grass roots football community in Wiltshire, Berkshire and Hampshire. The idea is to, instead of plowing money into local authorities and councils, through hire of facilities, travel the region and work in partnerships with clubs and put that money back into the grass roots game.
The idea at first was to hire the clubs facilities at a set cost but quickly evolved into something even better with our 'AT YOUR CLUB' scheme. The idea is simple, link with CAFS, host our 3 day camp and for every player registered to your club that attends we pay back £10. This means that the more children the club get to attend the camp, the more money we invest back in to help with kit and equipment purchase or anything else the club deem fit to spend the money on, as long as it is for the benefit of the children.
Our first camp in February with AFC Corsham in Wiltshire saw an amazing 50 children attend, 30 of those coming from the club itself and raising £300 for the club to improve things for their players. So now is the fun bit, not only did the club raise funds but 50 children from their local area got to experience their facilities and play alongside their players, with the quality of the coaching programme really shining through during a very wet week. The success of this week see's us return to Corsham for a Summer camp with full details available here.
We then delivered our first ever week in Southampton with Riverside Youth FC and again we saw close to 50 children attend and really helped open the door to the area for us. Riverside managed to raise funds of nearly £200 and for this one their coaches were on hand to work with our guys, see the programme and get hold of some new ideas to help them deliver new, fun and engaging sessions with their players.
Camp number 3 was at Ramsbury and saw an incredible 68 children attend from both Wiltshire and Berkshire.
These incredible numbers saw the club raise over £500 pounds and delivered that saving straight on to the parents of the children attending with a reduced signing on fee. Once again some of their coaches attended and saw the sessions and took some new ideas back to their players.
All of this means that prior to our May Half Term Camp with Salisbury Rovers, booking details can be found here, Charlie Austin Football School have now invest over £1000 back into the grassroots game already in 2018!!
So if you see one of our camps happening in your area and you are debating where to send your children for their school breaks then think of the lasting effect that attending our camps will have on children in your local area that love the game and how much your child's attendance could help the countless volunteers that make grass roots football possible.
Full details of our confirmed upcoming camps can be found right here.
